The North Atlantic Fish and WorkBoat Show is a brand new event for the commercial marine marketplace and will focus on the onboard, offshore and onshore products and services needed for the commercial fisherman and professionals working on, near and in the water. Held in St. John's Mile One Centre, the North Atlantic Fish and Work Boat show will quickly become recognized as the "must attend" event of the industry. Presented by the Navigator Magazine, The North Atlantic Fish and WorkBoat Show is produced by Master Promotions Ltd., Canada's foremost producer of commercial marine and aquaculture trade shows on both the Atlantic and Pacific coasts. The expansion of Master Promotions' commercial marine portfolio to Newfoundland and Labrador is a result of considerable market research and consultation with local, national and international companies. In the end, the reaction to this idea was overwhelmingly in favour and thus this new event was born. The Navigator Magazine is pleased to partner with Master Promotions in bringing awareness of the brand new North Atlantic Fish and WorkBoat Show, especially to industry people throughout Newfoundland and Labrador. Based in Newfoundland, the Navigator is Canada's largest fisheries magazine, covering commercial fisheries news from all Atlantic Canadian provinces. Of course no show is complete without a party, so the now-famous November TriNav/Navigator party at Club One in St. John's will be bigger and better than ever on Friday night, November 21. Together with Master Promotions, we are proud to show the exhibitors and our clients and advertisers a good time in appreciation of their support. by BBC News A yacht broke free from its moorings at an Isle of Man harbour, prompting a recovery operation by the coastguard.
The Douglas Coastguard's response team were called out late on Friday night after the boat drifted into the sea in strong winds.
The harbour master managed to get a line on the stern of the yacht and a coastguard rescue officer jumped on to check for casualties.
No-one was aboard and the yacht was brought into the harbour.
A coastguard spokesman said the boat suffered "considerable damage". |

The Associated Press Amendment 6, meant to throw a lifeline to Florida's maritime industry by giving it a property tax break, has passed. The measure on Tuesday's ballot said marinas, bait shops, boat yards and other maritime businesses would be assessed at their current use. State policy now says they should be taxed at their "highest and best" potential use, like a coastal hotel or condominium complex. That put such businesses under tremendous pressure as coastal property values have skyrocketed in recent years. With 98 percent of the expected vote counted, the amendment had 70.5 percent support. The measure, like all amendments, needed 60 percent approval to pass. There was no organized opposition. http://www.bradenton.com/news/breaking_news/story/1005003.html |
